The Bangkok Hop-On Hop-Off Bus is a practical option for first-time visitors who want to get their bearings across the city without the commitment of a fixed guided tour or the complexity of navigating public transport independently. Sitting on the open-top upper deck between stops gives you panoramic views of Bangkok’s neighbourhoods, temples, and skyline that are simply not available from the BTS Skytrain or a taxi.

The route covers the full arc from Bangkok’s modern commercial centre (Siam, MBK, Central World) through the historic old city (Grand Palace, Wat Pho, Wat Arun, Khao San Road) to Chinatown and the riverside. A single circuit from first stop to last takes approximately 3–3.5 hours without hopping off.

Grand Palace Stop

Stop 11 — Sanam Luang / Royal Grand Palace — drops you at Sanam Luang, the large ceremonial field immediately north of the Grand Palace entrance on Na Phra Lan Road. The Grand Palace entrance (Mani Noppharat Gate) is approximately a 5-minute walk south from the bus stop.

Timing note: The Grand Palace has last entry at 3:30 pm. The hop-on hop-off bus runs until 3:25 pm departure from the first stop. If you plan to visit the Grand Palace via the bus, do so before midday to ensure you have adequate time inside the complex before closing.

Passes are activated from first use and run continuously for the selected duration. They can be redeemed at any stop along the route. Tickets can also be collected at an alternative counter at Central World Department Store (1st Floor, Hug Thai Gate).

The 10:00 am start is later than ideal for Grand Palace visitors (who ideally arrive at 8:30 am at opening). If the Grand Palace is your first priority, consider visiting it independently at opening and boarding the hop-on hop-off bus afterward at the Sanam Luang stop (#11) for the remainder of your day.

Audio Guide

An audio guide is included with the pass and available in 7 languages. Commentary is GPS-triggered, playing as you approach each stop.
